Finding fresh job postings means discovering newly available positions before they become saturated with applicants or are widely advertised. Many openings exist outside standard job boards, and finding them requires searching creatively and verifying their authenticity.
Target company sites: Search directly on company career pages or use Google search tricks to find jobs hosted on platforms like Greenhouse, Lever, and Workday that may not be listed on LinkedIn or Indeed.
Verify job listings: Always crosscheck a job post by looking it up on the company’s official website and examining the poster’s digital footprint to avoid scams and outdated listings.
Connect and converse: Reach out to hiring managers or decision-makers through LinkedIn or email and start conversations to uncover roles that haven’t been posted publicly yet.
3 insider tips to get on a recruiter’s radar 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 the job is posted
Recruiters are always preparing for future job openings by building talent pipelines. This means they’re actively searching for candidates, even when there isn’t an open role yet. This proactive approach helps companies hire faster when positions become available.
To stand out, your job search strategy needs to be just as proactive. The good news? It’s not hard or time-consuming, it will just requires some strategy, consistency, and a little insider know-how.
Here are my top 3 tips, based on 10+ years of experience building candidate pipelines and now helping recruiters do the same:
𝟏. 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬
Make a list of your top 10 target companies, then visit their careers pages and join their Talent Network (also called a talent community or job alert system).
Think of this as a pre-application. You’ll submit your resume and basic info, and in return, you’ll get job alerts, company updates, and sometimes invites to exclusive events. Behind the scenes, recruiters review these submissions and may reach out before roles are posted. It’s a low-effort, high-impact way to show interest and stay on their radar.
𝟐. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
Recruiters host webinars, info sessions, conference booths, and virtual events to connect with candidates. Find and register for sessions at your target companies.
When you sign up, you’re added to their system and those attendee lists are gold for recruiters. You’ll often get early job alerts or outreach for roles that align with your interests. Companies track engagement, so applying through a post-event link can even bump you up in the queue.
𝟑. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
If you made it far in the interview process but didn’t get the job, don’t give up. That means you aligned with the company’s values and you just weren’t the right fit yet.
Follow up and ask for feedback. If there’s not a fit now, you may be better suited for another team or a different level. Recruiters keep notes and regularly meet with hiring managers to plan upcoming roles. Stay top of mind by checking in every couple of months with a quick update on your status and continued interest.
